Good, Better, Best Utensil Storage
Kitchens are busy places and the focal point of most homes, so they can often become a centre of clutter and chaos for busy families. Well designed kitchen storage and utensil storage will help you make the most of your space and minimise kitchen clutter.
Here are our top tips on three popular kitchen utensil storage options provided by the Jag Kitchens design consultant team; Melamine Dividers, Plastic Inserts and Blum Orga-Line kitchen accessories.
When it comes to kitchen storage, it’s all about dividing and conquering. Keep clutter and chaos at bay by organising your kitchen utensils and equipment in a compartmentalised and ordered way. Dividers and inserts in drawers and cabinets will help you find what you need quickly and easily, and will cut down on ‘rummage’ time. But as with anything, there are choices to make – and these come with their own various benefits to suit your particular family lifestyle and budget.
Melamine is a tough, scratch resistant laminate made here in New Zealand. There is a large selection of colours and styles to choose from, and the material is highly durable. Melamine dividers are cost effective, minimalistic, easy to install, not limited to insert size and can easily be put into a drawer. However, they are permanent and not as easy to clean compared to the next two options, as you can’t remove them entirely.
Plastic inserts are great for cutlery storage. This material is sturdy, uncomplicated and comes in a variety of colours. The main benefits of plastic inserts are that they are cost effective, simple to install and can be entirely removed to be cleaned. Unfortunately the inserts are fixed sizings and may or may not fit the size of the drawers in your kitchen. Your utensils may also not fit the size of the divided spaces either.
Another point to consider is that they are generally not as durable as Melamine or Blum Orga-Line.
The Blum Orga-Line range provides all types of modern and cutting-edge kitchen accessories. This brand provides high quality utensil storage that is flexible with any sizing, easy to clean, can easily be removed, is hard wearing and looks very up-market. They can be a little noisy due to the stainless steel component, as well as requiring some skill to assemble.
When it comes to choosing the best storage options for kitchen utensil storage, budget and family lifestyle are generally large factors in the decision making process.
