5 Steps to a New Kitchen

At Jag we use a five step process to make buying and installing your new kitchen as easy, enjoyable and satisfying as possible.

You may first choose to visit our 7 day Botany showroom or have a good look through our website. Either way the process starts with you making an appointment to meet with one of our experienced consultants - available by appointment 7 days a week.

Our five step process

5 Steps -step 1

1. The design brief

This first appointment is all about getting to know you and understanding what you want to achieve. We need to ensure that we have all of the information needed to come up with a suitable plan that meets your budget.

It is important to make an appointment so your designer can schedule uninterrupted time to spend with you when taking a design brief. This design brief will typically take one hour.

Your designer will need measurements of your kitchen space. You can either take measurements or bring a copy of your house plans.

The plan you bring us does not need to be a masterpiece as we will always do a comprehensive site measure prior to manufacture. If you have any questions at all while measuring your kitchen space just give us a call.

At this first appointment your designer will discuss layout options for your new kitchen and work through a wish list (click here to download a template) to help establish what features, finishes and appliances best suit your needs.

Your designer will also take you through the different cabinet and bench top material options which will help you establish a realistic budget for your project.

At the completion of this design brief your designer will arrange a second appointment for you to meet where you will be presented with a proposed kitchen plan and pricing.

We look forward to meeting with you. We will work together on your design over a cup of coffee and guarantee you won’t be subjected to sales pressure.

2. Design and pricing presentation

This second appointment is where your new proposed kitchen design is presented to you along with indicative pricing.

You will get to view realistic colour 3D images of your kitchen and will likely discuss different product and pricing options. Any alterations to the design can usually be made during this appointment and you will be able to take 3D printouts of your design home with you. We will also supply you with samples of door and bench top materials.

3. Confirmation and site survey

Once you have confirmed that you are going ahead with your kitchen we carry out a comprehensive site survey of the kitchen area at your home.

On confirming you intend to purchase a Jag kitchen you pay an initial 30% deposit and we arrange the site survey. This survey is designed to ensure that the kitchen perfectly fits the space and that there will be no surprises on the day of installation. Our site survey staff will be asking for details of appliance choices if you have not already provided them to your designer. They will also discuss the various trade’s people you will require and the option of using your own trade’s people versus Jag recommended contractors. The completed site survey will go back to your designer so that they can make any minor adjustments to your plan prior to production.

Your designer will contact you to make an appointment to visit the showroom to make final colour choices and sign off on your kitchen plan and specifications.

5 Steps - Step 5

4. Final specifications

At this meeting with your designer they will discuss any minor alterations to be made from the site survey and record your final choice of materials, colours and accessories.

At this stage we will allocate you an installation date and send your finalised plan through to our factory so the kitchen building process can be commenced. If you are using Jag recommended trade’s people they will make contact you to discuss the work that may needed to be done both prior to and after the kitchen is installed.

5. Installation and sign off

The kitchen cabinets will be delivered the day before installation and our installer will arrive on the arranged day to begin the installation process.

Our customer services team will phone you a week out from installation to confirm you are ready for the installation to take place. At this stage your second payment of 60% of the kitchen price is due for payment. The kitchen will be delivered one business day prior to installation so that the installer can get a good start the next morning. The installation of the cabinets typically takes one to two days. If you have ordered a Laminate Bench Top it will be fitted at the same time as the cabinets. Stone tops are measured on site after the cabinets are installed. Standard, solid 20mm and 30mm benchtops are installed 5 working days after template. Mitred benchtops or those the waterfall ends take 10 days.

Our Site Survey staff will monitor your installation and be available to discuss and rectify any issues that may arise.

Once your kitchen installation is complete our Site Survey staff will conduct a quality audit of your new kitchen. They will carry out any necessary adjustments before arranging for your 10 Year Transferable Warranty to be issued.
